Four Dead, 10 Injured in Coal Mine Fire in China – Times of India

At least four miners were killed and 10 others injured when fire engulfed a coal mine shaft in northeast China’s Liaoning Province , local officials said on Monday.

The fire broke out at about 2 pm on Sunday in the shaft of Xinglong coal mine in Fuxin city , a government spokesperson said, without specifying the number of miners who were working underground.

The injured, who were being treated at three local hospitals, are stated to be stable, Xinhua news agency reported. The local government has ordered the privately-owned Xinglong coal mine to halt production to find out the cause of the accident. [Full Text]
