Peak Demand Easing at Flu-Hit Hong Kong Hospital

From South China Morning Post via Redorbit.com :

Hong Kong’s health chief said yesterday that a run on services at Tuen Mun hospital, the hospital worst hit by demands for flu- related treatment, had slowed despite reports the number of people developing flu is still climbing.

Secretary for Food and Health York Chow Yat-ngok said on a radio programme that he visited the hospital on Friday [14 March] and noticed the number of people seeking help, and the number of admissions, had fallen.

However, the overall number of flu patients, especially of children, was still climbing, Dr Chow said. There was no information indicating that bird flu was involved in the deaths of about 100 chickens at a Guangzhou market on Thursday, he noted. Samples taken from those chickens and 2,000 others culled in Foshan , a Guangzhou district, are being tested in Guangzhou laboratories, and Dr Chow said results would be published as soon as they became available.
