Blackboard Fox

黑板狐 (hēibǎn hú): blackboard fox

This is a reference to Hu Jintao. The Mandarin word for “fox” in Chinese, 狐 (hú), sounds very similar to the former presidents surname, 胡锦涛 Hu Jintao’s surname. He earned this nickname when he visited earthquake victims in Yushu in 2008. Hu Jintao entered a classroom and wrote on the board, “There will be new schools! There will be new homes!” (“新校园，会有的！新家园，会有的！”) He then led the students in a recitation of those lines. The blackboard is being preserved by the Qinghai archives.
