Harmonious

和谐 (héxié) harmonious

Each administration of Chinese leaders has adopted a phrase to embody their governing philosophy. The phrase adopted by the Hu-Wen administration is "building a harmonious society."

Critics of this governing philosophy argue that the government has created a surface appearance of harmony by suppressing or "harmonizing" elements of society that are not considered harmonious.
