岂能因为声音微小而不呐喊 (qǐ néng yīn wèi shēng yīn wēi xiǎo ér bù nà hǎn): how can we not speak out just because our voice is small?

This comes from a dialogue in an online video between two people, Kannimei and Uncle Yang. In the video, titled “War of Internet Addiction,” Kannimei complains about restrictions on the internet. Uncle Yang responds:

Uncle Yang: Nice speech. But it is useless. You have a voice, so what? The power behind me can easily overwhelm all of your voices.

Kannimei: How can we not speak out just because our voice is small…. Everyone in front of the screen, please raise your hand, send your power to me. When they killed Youtube, you did not raise your hand. When they blocked Twitter, you did not raise your hand. When they killed Fanfou, you did not raise your hand. Now, we may even lose WoW (World of Warcraft). I know, we are just fart people, … Whatever we do will not save our beloved game, but at least, you can raise your hand in front of the computer screen, and pass your voice, your power to me, through this "Chinternet". For our only emotional home, let’s shout together: We are WoW gamers!”

After “War of Internet Addiction” went viral, the phrase “how can we not speak out just because our voice is small” became an online rallying cry.
