转发就是力量 (zhuǎn fā jiù shì lì liàng): reposting is power

This is an adaptation of Francis Bacon’s adage, “knowledge is power.” The phrase, "reposting is power," which had previously circulated on the internet, was part of the title of a popular blog post by Ma Qingyun entitled, “Scrutiny Changes China, Reposting is Power” (围观改变中国,转发就是力量). The article applauded the use of microblogs to shine light on otherwise hidden aspects of Chinese society and government.

Netizens use the phrase to encourage others to repost web content, especially content that the writer feels might challenge the status quo and effect political or social change.
