胡编 (hú biān): the fabricator
This is the nickname for Hu Xijin (胡锡进), Chief Editor of the Global Times. In Chinese, the character 编 has a number of meanings depending on context; it can mean “to invent/fabricate” (as in 胡编乱造 “to recklessly sow falsehoods) and it can also mean “edit” (as in 编辑).
