According to a new regulation released by the ministry last December, all music that has been modified from its original form, including those for non-profit purposes, must first be submitted to the ministry, before being uploaded online. The regulation, however, does not extend to movies, plays and other historical works.<\/p>\n
The regulation is at present targeted at a new art form called e’gao, popularized by such groups as the Back-Dorm Boys<\/a>(\u00c2\u00ea\u00e9\u00cb\u00e0\u00e7\u00c1\u00ee\u2211\u00c1\u00ee\u00fc) from the Guangzhou Art Institute in South China’s Guangdong Province<\/a>.
