Police departments across China are turning to micro-blog accounts to keep in touch with the public. BBC reports on the “Safe Beijing” micro-blog<\/a>, which has almost 330,000 followers:<\/p>\n

\nThe latest message (number 1,482) warns that blocking or hiding vehicle licence-plates intentionally is illegal and could result in a fine and licence penalty points.<\/p>\n

Previous messages include a notice about roadworks, accompanied by a map, and a warning about burglaries.<\/p>\n
