Confirmation came, meanwhile, that Liu Binjie, a close protege of President Hu Jintao, has taken the place of Long Xinmin as head of China’s General Administration of Press and Publications<\/a>, a move that should solidify the top leader’s grip on news media ahead of the 17th Party Congress this fall.
