Jeremy Blum at South China Morning Post reports that Chen Zhouxi, a\u00a0Zhejiang journalist,\u00a0received online death threats for his reports on Wenzhou’s cooling real estate market<\/strong><\/a>:<\/p>\n On October 8, administrators of the popular Wenzhou message board\u00a0703804.com\u00a0discovered a post made by a user named \u201cLuoju Luoshui\u201d. The post entitled \u201cIf you want to save the Wenzhou economy, first kill\u00a0Diyi Caijing Ribao<\/em>\u00a0reporter Chen Zhouxi\u201d incited an uproar amongst forum readers.<\/p>\n Administrators deleted the post, but it re-appeared the next day, complete with a multiple choice voting poll, where the options were \u201ckill\u201d, \u201cdo not kill\u201d, and \u201cabstain from voting\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cThe changes in Wenzhou\u2019s economy and the actions of this double-crossing finance reporter are connected,\u201d a section of the post read. \u201cAll of the negative reports about Wenzhou were done by him \u2026 For the sake of Wenzhou\u2019s economy, it\u2019s necessary for Chen Zhouxi to become a victim of the system.\u201d<\/p>\n […] In statements released in a\u00a0Diyi Caijing Ribao<\/em>\u00a0follow-up article\u00a0after the incident, Chen speculated that the forum post had been motivated by a number of articles he had written about the regional economy of Zhejiang province \u2013 particularly the cooling housing market in Wenzhou city.
