The Crimean parliament and an overwhelming majority of voters chose<\/a> to join the Russian Federation, sparking\u00a0protest from the US and EU<\/a> and putting\u00a0China in a rather difficult diplomatic dilemma<\/a>.\u00a0China\u2019s government censors were quick to to forbid news organizations from making any connection to China\u2019s own sovereignty \u201cissues.\u201d<\/a> While Mainland news outlets were refraining from making those sensitive connections, Sina Weibo comments that did were being deleted<\/a> [zh].
