The amendment would raise the upper limits of how much a water-polluting company would have to pay, and it would allow water pollution victims to file class action lawsuits against the polluting companies.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Company heads found guilty of polluting water face a fine of up to half their annual income, according to a draft amendment to the water pollution and control law.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Executives or other people directly responsible could be fined up to half their previous year&#8217;s salary if their companies cause water pollution,&#8221; stipulates the draft amendment, which was submitted for third reading to the National People&#8217;s Congress (NPC) Standing Committee Tuesday.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>China Daily reports on a new draft amendment to the National People&#8217;s Congress water pollution and control law in China.
