Following accusations that Apple threatens China\u2019s national security<\/a> while China tries to intercept Apple users\u2019 cloud data<\/a>, Apple CEO Tim Cook met with Vice Premier Ma Kai in Beijing to \u201cexchange views\u201d on digital security<\/strong><\/a> on Wednesday. From Gillian Wong at The Wall Street Journal:<\/p>\n In an interview with Chinese news portal Sina.com, Mr. Cook said the Cupertino, Calif., gadget maker will also increase investment in China by an unspecified amount. \u201cIn the future China will become Apple\u2019s biggest revenue contributor,\u201d he said, according to Sina.com. \u201cIt\u2019s just a matter of time.\u201d<\/p>\n [\u2026] Mr. Cook\u2019s trip is being portrayed by some Chinese media outlets as part of the company\u2019s attempt to assuage concerns the Chinese government or public might have about the security of data stored on its phones. In July, state broadcaster China Central Television called a location-tracking function on the iPhone a \u201cnational security concern.\u201d Apple has said it doesn\u2019t keep user data.<\/p>\n The official Xinhua News Agency said Mr. Cook and China\u2019s Vice Premier Ma Kai \u201cexchanged views on protection of users\u2019 information\u201d when they met on Wednesday.
