{"id":19733,"date":"2008-04-30T10:16:12","date_gmt":"2008-04-30T17:16:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/chinadigitaltimes.net\/2008\/04\/chinese-banks-report-leap-in-profits\/"},"modified":"2008-04-30T10:22:31","modified_gmt":"2008-04-30T17:22:31","slug":"chinese-banks-report-leap-in-profits","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chinadigitaltimes.net\/2008\/04\/chinese-banks-report-leap-in-profits\/","title":{"rendered":"Chinese Banks Report Leap in Profits"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From the Financial Times:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>China\u2019s three largest banks reported huge profit jumps in the first quarter in what may mark a peak in earnings this year as government measures to curb loan growth and tackle inflation start to bite.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/markets.ft.com\/tearsheets\/performance.asp?s=hk:1398\">Industrial and Commercial Bank of China<\/a>, the country\u2019s largest lender, lifted net profit by 77 per cent in the first quarter from a year earlier to Rmb33.1bn ($4.7bn) while <a href=\"http:\/\/markets.ft.com\/tearsheets\/performance.asp?s=hk:3988\">Bank of China<\/a> reported an 85 per cent increase to Rmb21.7bn.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/markets.ft.com\/tearsheets\/performance.asp?s=hk:939\">China Construction Bank<\/a>, the other state-owned bank listed on the Hong Kong and Shanghai stock markets, said profit in the first quarter reached Rmb32.1bn. It did not report first-quarter earnings last year and did not provide a comparison.
