Beichuan, in the southwestern Sichuan Province, was one of the areas hardest hit by the 7.9-magnitude quake. The seven story main building which contained 21 classrooms, with about 1000 students and teachers, collapsed when the earthquake hit at class time. The following photos are of the outdoor activities of students and teachers of Beichuan Middle School on May 11th, a day before the earthquake.
