Last year, it was reported that Xiao was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/15b8675e-6545-11e8-90c2-9563a0613e56\">working with Chinese authorities to sell off Tomorrow Group&#8217;s assets<\/a>\u00a0to reduce accumulating financial risks. Xiao was one of several tycoons and finance officials detained in a 2017 financial sector crackdown by Xi Jinping; others included\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/chinadigitaltimes.net\/2017\/06\/china-detains-chairman-anbang\/\">Anbang Insurance Group chairman Wu Xiaohui<\/a>, former chairman of the China Insurance Regulatory Commission <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/week-asia\/opinion\/article\/2098421\/billionaire-wus-detention-signals-chinas-clean-financial-sector\">Xiang Junbo, and assistant chairman of the China Banking Regulatory Commission Yang Jiacai<\/a>. Last September, the South China Morning Post reported that Xiao <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/news\/china\/politics\/article\/2165416\/chinese-tycoon-xiao-jianhua-could-face-trial-soon-stock\">could soon be facing trial<\/a> for stock manipulation.<\/p>\n<p>Numerous broken links from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=%E6%98%8E%E5%A4%A9%E7%B3%BB&amp;rlz=1C5CHFA_enCA814CA814&amp;source=lnms&amp;tbm=nws&amp;sa=X&amp;ved=0ahUKEwjcrOyrtJngAhXIjFQKHbT7CBwQ_AUIDigB&amp;biw=1280&amp;bih=884\">Google results for &#8220;\u660e\u5929\u7cfb&#8221; (&#8220;Tomorrow Group&#8221;)<\/a> suggest heavy censorship of related content.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/chinadigitaltimes.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/%E7%9C%9F1.png\" data-slb-group=\"192542_192513_192159_179641\" data-slb-active=\"1\" data-slb-internal=\"0\" data-slb-asset=\"1961382593\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-179018\" src=\"https:\/\/chinadigitaltimes.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/%E7%9C%9F1-150x150.png\" alt=\"\u771f\" width=\"106\" height=\"103\" data-pin-nopin=\"true\" \/><\/a><em>Since directives are sometimes communicated orally to journalists and editors, who then leak them online, the wording published here may not be exact.
