The first question:\n<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\nQ:\u00ac\u2020 Is it true that there is a total news blackout on <a href=\"http:\/\/journalism.berkeley.edu\/projects\/chinadn\/en\/2005\/04\/jonathan_watts_8.php\">the Huaxi\/Huankantou incident <\/a>and the only available information comes from western media?<\/p>\n<p>Are these the sole purveyors of information  on this matter?\u00ac\u2020 You must be joking.\u00ac\u2020 None of these reporters are  likely to be admitted anywhere near the scene, as <a href=\"http:\/\/simonworld.mu.nu\/archives\/075531.php\">Didi Kirsten Tatlow&#8217;s story  <\/a>shows.\u00ac\u2020 So where did these reports come from?\u00ac\u2020 The western reporters  were mostly relying on Chinese media, especially the Internet.\u00ac\u2020 In fact,  there was a torrent of information inside China within the first couple of  days.\u00ac\u2020 The Dongyang portal even ran an online poll about who was at fault  &#8212; the government or the citizens?\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ESWN has posted a series of questions and answers about the recent riots at Huankantou, based on translations of several documents about the incident.
