墙国 (qiáng guó): wall nation

“Wall nation” sounds the same in Chinese as “mighty nation” (强国). There is much talk in China about becoming “a mighty nation” and rising up after years of foreign aggression. The term “wall nation” pokes fun at these nationalistic aspirations by suggesting that China is not becoming “mighty” so much as it is becoming “walled” in by the Great Firewall.
