低俗(dī sú): vulgar
In January 2009, China announced a crackdown on vulgar websites. For more information see here (Chinese) and here (English). Netizens have often been skeptical about whether such crackdowns are merely a pretext for going after politically sensitive content online. The most popular blogger Han Han wrote a post entitled “From Now On, I’m a Vulgar Person to protest the crackdown.
