墙 (qiáng) wall

In Mandarin, “wall” (墙 qiáng) sounds the same as the word “strong” (强 qiáng). The character for “strong” is a component of a number of Chinese words. To make reference to the Great Firewall of China, netizens often substitute the character for “strong” with the character for “wall.” A common example can be seen in the word wall nation.

Except for those who are able to tunnel through the wall, Facebook, as well as YouTube and Twitter are inaccessible in China.
