A rough meaning: Many migrant rural workers earn a living by taking up extremely dangerous and hazardous jobs, including coal-miners, construction workers, welders. These jobs expose them to large amount of dust and powder, and many suffer from pneumoconiosis, an incurable disease caused by lung fibrosis and results in shortness of breath and a fatality rate of 20%. China now has more than 600 thousand reported cases of pneumoconiosis
