Freedom in ART is freedom of speech. Freedom to talk to all people. Why do we have to create barriers in regards to talking to one another. There is no physical challenge here. Just what you believe the nature of the challenge to be. If China can only communicate using force then we all know that talking is to high for their militant agenda.

This is such an outrage that someone who brings pleasure and joy to so many millions across the world can be detained or perhaps killed for simply expressing his distain for how his own government is run. Everyone on this earth should be allowed the basic human right of freedom of speech/expression no matter how offensive it is to the government. This has already gone on for too long. He shouldnt be detained for 2 seconds let alone 2 weeks. Release Ai WeiWei

Ai Weiwei is a national treasure who shows a bridge to a possible future for China. He is a living Terracota warrior protecting China, a Ming vase breaking auction records at Sothebys. He is the best friend the Communist Party of China has, because he is willing at great personal risk to warn them that they are losing the people of China and people from afar who buy Chinese goods. We, Canadians sent you Norman Bethune, we recognized China long before most of the West. Free Ai Weiwei and free yourselves.

I am very inspired by the art and actions of Ai Weiwei. I am quite sure that he is walking the path of Mahatma Gandhi and and Martin Luther King Jr. while also creating a vision, of an old path, as so many great artists and poets have throughout history. As such his artwork goes beyond the typical realm of contemporary art, it is transcendent, a very spiritual and therefore hope-filled. It calls on all of us to, in Ai’s words, understand that we all share Life. My fervent hope is that Ai Weiwei is released, alive and well.

China continues to stun the world with their atrocious treatment of their people and animals. This is just one more blotch on their reputation. The “people” have not arrested Mr. Weiwei on trumped up charges. It is the government that has done this and it is the government that we expect to do the right thing and release him. China’s people, on the whole, only back their government out of fear that the same punishment awaits them if they do not seem to agree with what their government wants. There is NO such thing as “freedom” in China or any communistic country. I, along with many Americans, boycott China on all levels!
