The influential journal Strategy and Management has been closed, possibly permanently, reportedly because of a story about North Korea, according to a Reuters report: “‘It could indicate a tightening of political censorship,’ said the scholar, who had published several articles in ‘Strategy and Management.’ Foreign news reports said the controversial article pinned the blame for the nuclear crisis on North Korean leader Kim Jong-il and criticized him for trying to maintain a system of ‘dynastic rule.’ ”
Distribution of the edition of Strategy and Management which contained the North Korea article was banned in August. John J Tkacik, Jr, of the conservative Heritage Foundation, wrote about the article for Asia Times earlier this month. Epoch Times also reported about the article before the magazine was banned, saying “Some media pointed out that the content of this article is not only Wang’s personal opinions, but may also reflect the Chinese government’s views on North Korea.”
