KMT Chairman Lien Chan, currently on a visit to China, arrived in Xi’an on Saturday, and paid a visit to the elementary school where he had studied during his childhood. Lien Chan was greeted warmly by the students there, and in return, Lien presented a red-envelope with RMB100,000 to his alma mater for the renovation of its library.
…”I should express my respect to all of you, my schoolmates. I have to be honest with you. I have no memory or impression about the campus at all. Even if I could remember the old campus, I’m sure it wouldn’t be the same as it looks today. It has changed a lot over the past 60 years. Six decades have passed. Things can change so much in just 30 years, not to mention in 60 years.”
Lien also briefly introduced the history of the Lien family to the students there…
Recalling the old history put Lien’s wife, Lien Fang Yu, in a sentimental state, and she even broke out in tears.
Lien’s Son said, “It’s a meaningful trip to come and visit my father’s elementary school.”
