CHINA’S Ministry of Health has closed a national dental disease protection and treatment guidance team, a facility that has aroused many disputes mainly over its right to give endorsements to dental care products.The dental expert team, which was reported to have only two employees in its Beijing headquarters, has endorsed products relating to oral care as one of its major activities in its 18-year history, according to a notice published by China’s Ministry of Health.
Meanwhile, a new department will be set up with the Disease Control Department of the ministry, to handle the country’s oral care, said the notice. But the new unit will not include members of the guidance team, and will not be given endorsement power. [Full Text]
