Li Yongyan writes about the Chinese government’s hypocritical censorship policies, which ban “harmful” information for the masses but allows access for the elite in Chinese society, including foreigners. While foreign TV broadcasts from BBC and CNN are banned for the general population, for example, they are freely available for anyone who can afford a room in a luxury hotel.
Li writes, “Typical of a totalitarian state, propaganda officials decide what you see. And then, what you see depends on how much money you have, which is more capitalist than the capitalists.”
