U.S. News and World Report writes about a new report from the Council on Foreign Relations called “A New China Approach“:

A Council on Foreign Relations task force report released Tuesday calls for a U.S. strategy founded on “further integrating China into the global community,” a goal it describes as offering “the best hope of shaping China’s interests and conduct” in accord with international norms and U.S. interests. The report emphasizes that a long, bipartisan consensus on China policy‚Äìstarted some 35 years ago when President Richard Nixon went to that country‚Äìis at risk and needs to be rebuilt. The bipartisan panel issued several recommendations that, broadly, fall within the mainstream view of China watchers in this country. [Full text]
