It’s not possible for DJs in China to obtain the latest, cutting edge dance music by legal means, so they must rely on an increasing number of Chinese Internet sites like yesdj.com which allow them to swap and download tunes. DJs in China’s major cities don’t typically visit those sites, eschewing all digital forms of music in favor of spinning vinyl records. However, those DJs rely on the Internet too: those types of recordings are hard to come by in China, so some are borrowing their friend’s foreign credit cards to buy vinyl records on the web.
