Second office in China for Wolfson Microelectronics – Alastair Reed

From Business Scotsman.com:

WOLFSON Microelectronics has opened a second office in China in a bid to build on the rapid growth it has been experiencing in the country.

The Edinburgh-based chip-maker announced yesterday that an office had been opened in Shanghai to capitalise on the growing number of indigenous designers and manufacturers.

Julian Hayes, marketing vice-president, said the region was seeing a growth in new companies specialising in hi-tech mobile phones, and that they were a “natural target” for Wolfson.

In 2004, more than 88 per cent of Wolfson’s revenues came from the Asia-Pacific region, and the figure is expected to rise further this year. This latest addition gives Wolfson seven sales and engineering offices in the area, including Taipei, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Seoul and Singapore.
