China’s Five-Year Economy Plan to Aim at Narrowing Wealth Gap – Bloomberg

From Bloomberg, via chinaknowledge.com:

Leaders of China’s ruling Communist Party will aim to narrow the gap between rich and poor in a five-year economic development plan to be discussed at a meeting in Beijing this weekend.

The Party, led by President Hu Jintao, will support a blueprint to pursue “rapid” economic growth during the 11th five-year plan from 2006 to 2010, the state-run Xinhua news agency said in reports leading up to the four-day meeting. The plan will emphasize reducing income inequality that is leading to social unrest.
