This personal profile, which appeared in the New York Times a couple of weeks ago, is not to be missed. It reminds people that, while the Chinese online activism and internaitonal pressure won the release of the SARS doctor Jiang Yanyong last summer, rights defense at grassroots level is catching on, yet still very difficult. Those who take part often risk putting themselves in harm’s way.
