Rice to Press China to Enforce North Korean Sanctions – Steven R. Weisman and Norimitsu Onishi

A lot of coverage today of the U.S. efforts to get China on board the sanctions against North Korea. From the New York Times:

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice asserted today that China would help enforce a United Nations Security Council resolution that imposed sanctions on North Korea, including a provision to interdict goods to and from that country that are related to nuclear weapons.

Still, she acknowledged that exactly how China cooperates remains to be worked out.

Ms. Rice, speaking on the Sunday television news shows, indicated that she would press China on taking such steps when she visits next week. [Full text]
