Qi Hanting (齐汉汀) is the former manager, and a co-founder, with Jin Rao, of Anti-CNN.com. He is a journalism student at Tsinghua University studying under Li Xiguang, and he attended the Salzburg Academy’s Media & Global Change Seminar in the U.S. in the summer of 2008.

In March 2008, when he was 19 years old, he started Anti-CNN as a means to get at the truth in media, providing a platform for different perspectives, and facilitating communication between netizens. Anti-CNN attempted to seek out distortions within Western media, and Qi believed the original intention was good, even if the outcome of the site did not fully function as it was intended, according to an interview he gave CDT. Qi left the Anti-CNN website at the end of April 2008 because he wanted to form his own website, Global-netizen-media, in order to promote the original ideas of Anti-CNN as a place where all people can participate and communicate to better understand each other’s perspectives via the Internet. About Anti-CNN, he stated that it did provide a lesson for the direction of future sites, as well as a historical legacy, from which he learned that a site cannot exist simply to oppose an idea.
