Watchdog to continue inquiry into ‘spy’ e-mail – Ravina Shamdasani

The Privacy Commissioner has decided to further consider whether Yahoo!’s disclosure of information to mainland authorities leading to the imprisonment of a journalist breached the personal data privacy ordinance in light of public concern.

Roderick Woo Bun said yesterday he was trying to see “if I can have an alternative perspective” on the matter, after he appeared before legislators on Tuesday to say there was not enough evidence to launch an investigation under the personal data privacy ordinance.
