China promoting home-grown DVD alternative

As previous post on China’s new video compression format, is now coming true with China’s EVD technology. Yahoo! News reports that China’s enhanced versatile disc players will be coming out for this holiday shopping season. The expected price will be around 2,000 yuan whereas a locally produced DVD player is about 700 yuan.
