From BBC: ” A Chinese internet dissident who has been in detention since October has been formally arrested on charges of subversion.
The official Xinhua news agency said Du Daobin had written 28 internet articles aimed at the overthrow of China’s socialist system. ”
It is very unusual for Chinese authorities to publicly announce the arrest of a dissident. I have no doubt that they have done this not only because Du’s case has launched serious public protest inside and outside of China, but also because the Chinese government is determined to make Du a symbolic case in order to draw the boundary lines for political speech for the 80 million Chinese netizens.
