Article reports that on March 19, the former editor-in-chief of the cutting-edge , Southern Metropolitan Daily, was arrested on charges of embezzlement. Two senior managers were also recently sentenced to long-term imprisonment for bribery and embezzlement. The report indicates that the government is cracking down on Southern Metropolitan for first reporting on the beating death of Sun Zhigang. Southern Metropolitan Daily is also the that first reported on the emergence of SARS last year.
