China View (ChinaView.cn) posts that Professor Xu Jialu, director of the College of Chinese Language and Culture of Beijing Normal University, and also vice-chairman of the 10th Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress said in a speech on Monday, October 20th at City University that the adoption of different religions in China showed the ability of the Chinese to integrate foreign culture. He commented that for example, during a time of unrest in China, Buddhism was a means for many Chinese to escape from suffering.
