China’s economy booms while environment suffers

From the transcript of Australia’s ABC Radio International: “China’s economic performance over the last two decades has been as remarkable as it’s been swift. Lifting some of the constraints of authoritarian control has meant a better life for hundreds of millions of people. But China’s economic growth is being undermined by the tremendous waste of resources and a severe assault on the country’s environment.”

Reporter John Taylor interviewed environmental scientists and activists in this program.
