Government organizes trip for China’s Internet elite to improve their ‘political quality’  

From the Interfax today: Internet Media Association recently organized an educational trip for China’s leading Internet media companies with support from the Internet Affairs Bureau of China’s State Council. Internet Executives participating in the trip included NetEase Founder Ding Le and Sohu Founder Charles Zhang, two of the richest men in China.

“The trip, which was titled the ‘Red Native Land Trip,’ was organized to strengthen the political quality of Internet media,” Su Na, Marking Director of the China Internet Information Center, told Interfax. “Top executives and Chief Editors from most of China’s top Internet media companies took part in this trip.”

“China’s leading news websites and commercial websites certificated to published news information are visited by more than 95% of Chinese netizens,” Cai Guozhao, Deputy Director of the China Internet Information Center, added. “Therefore, these dominant websites have a great impact on China’s entire Internet environment.”
