India finds a $40b friend on Iran

According to a report in Asia Times, India has made a deal to buy natural gas and develop oil fields in Iran, which may influence relations between New Delhi and Beijing: “The deal puts energy rivals India and China in partnership in Tehran, and turns the focus back on a proposed Iran-Pakistan-India pipeline. In signs of more strategic realignments, India has confirmed that it is in talks with Russia to invest in a Yukos unit, where it may again end up partnering with China.”
