UPI: China forbids reports on mining disaster

From UPI, via Interest!ALERT:

Chinese authorities ordered a news blackout on Monday’s coal mine explosion as the death toll climbed to 209 Wednesday, local journalists said.

The propaganda department of Liaoning province in northeast China denied local journalists access to the mine in Fuxin city and ordered them not to report on the story, the South China Morning Post reported Wednesday. Newspapers were told to use only the reports provided by the official Xinhua news agency.
