Xinhua: Combining strength for a stronger nation

From Xinhua – English:

Not many countries can claim, as China can, that their nation is the result of a lot of mixing and sharing, of joining many nationalities and people from different cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

China has never claimed to be the home of any one nationality, despite times when its doors were shut. During the periods Chinese are most proud of, the communities living in its central areas were all interested in learning from the communities on the country’s geographic peripheries.

Today’s Chinese nation has in fact incorporated many nationalities that have not just existed, but also given this land heroes and even emperors and empresses, along with political and cultural influences that are still in evidence today.
