Japan protested to China on Saturdayafter an anti-Japanese rally turned violent in Beijing, where thousands smashed windows and threw rocks at the Japanese embassy and ambassador’s residence, Kyodo news agency said.
Chinese demonstrators had been marching peacefully under heavy police guard at various places in the Chinese capital toprotest what many see as Japan’s whitewashing of its militaristpast and oppose Tokyo’s bid for a permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council.
