The International Monetary Fund on Wednesday raised its 2005 growth forecast for China, the world’s fastest-growing economy, and advised Beijing it may need to tighten monetary policy if investment growth rebounds.
In its twice-yearly snapshot of the world’s economies, the IMF said Chinese growth was now poised to hit 9 percent this year, up from 8.5 percent predicted in April.
