Vice ministers eligible for cards with 3 million credit line – Guang Yi

From China Youth Daily via Xinhua News Agency (in Chinese), translated by CDT (link):

It was reported that Minsheng Bank, one of the largest non-state owned commercial banks in China, issued a special product, called “Minsheng Diamond Credit Card.” It has a credit line of 3 million renminbi, or $400,000, 60 times of the highest limit according to regulations. Its target clients include vice minister-level officials, as well as enterpreneurs and celebrities.

The bank said they are serving “top level persons,” eyeing the status of those vice minister-level officials, most of whom earn a salary of less than 10,000 renminbi, or $1,200, a month. It is suggested that this special client ties may give rise to corruption.
