China Delays NYT Researcher’s Case a Month – AP

From AP via the New York Times:

The verdict on a Chinese New York Times researcher charged with leaking state secrets has been delayed, adding another month to a case that has dragged on for nearly two years, his lawyer said Friday.

The Beijing No. 2 Intermediate People’s Court was expected to issue a verdict on Zhao Yan within a week of a daylong, closed-door trial that it held on June 16. But on Wednesday the court announced a month’s delay, without saying why, according to Guan Anping, a member of Zhao’s defense team.

“They said the latest they will give an answer is July 25,” Guan said in a telephone interview. [Full Text]
