A military transport plane carrying 40 people has crashed in the east Chinese province of Anhui with the reported loss of at least five lives.
The state news agency said that a rescue mission was under way while local sources reported human remains strewn across a mountainside.
Villagers rushed to the scene after hearing an explosion, a local man told the Associated Press by telephone. [full text]
