China said it would send its chief negotiator on the North Korean nuclear issue to Pyongyang next week while stressing that it was making ‘unremitting efforts’ to resolve the crisis.
Deputy foreign minister Wu Dawei will travel to Pyongyang on Monday as part of a delegation to attend celebrations for the 45th anniversary of a friendship treaty between the two countries, foreign ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu said. [Full text]

China’s President Hu Jintao held talks on Thursday with President Bush and reiterated Beijing’s “serious concerns” after North Korea’s missile tests, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
